I would like to bring to your attention that the Cost and Management Accountant (CMA) qualification is equivalent to Chartered Accountant (CA) in every aspect, including study material and practical training. However, CMAs are currently not recognized for conducting tax audits. I respectfully request an amendment to the definition of "Accountant" to include CMAs, allowing them to conduct tax audits. This would enhance audit quality and align India’s practices with global standards. For instance, in the United Kingdom, both ACCA and ACA professionals are eligible to conduct tax audits.
